Overview:
This article intends to provide an overview of the high level steps you would work through to be able to prepare your Salesforce org to be ready for Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTDfVAT).
Add The Authorise MTD for VAT Widget To Your Company Page Layout
You will need to authorise the HMRC Making Tax Digital for VAT API to allow Zumzum Financials to submit VAT Returns to HMRC on your behalf. You will need to add the inline Visualforce gadget to your page layout. Please follow these steps to add the gadget:
- Go to Setup in Salesforce Classic
- In the search box on the left hand side, type Objects
- Click on the link for Objects under Create>Objects
- Find and click on the Company Object
- Scroll down to page layouts and click edit next to the Company Layout
- Drag and drop the Section component to where you would like to add the widget
- Find the Visualforce pages link in the floating palette at the top of the page
- Drag and drop the MTDforVAT Classic page into the new section you have created
- Enter your new Section Name, e.g. Making Tax Digital
- Hover over the Visualforce page to the wrench on the right hand side and click it to reveal the settings
- Set the label visibility on the detail page and edit page as required and select the option to make it a single column
- Set the Width as 100%
- Set the Height as 400 pixels
- Select the show scroll bars as true
- Click OK when done
- Find the Related Lists link the floating palette at the top of the page
- Add the related lists for VAT Gateway, VAT API Logs, VAT Obligations, VAT Liabilities and VAT Payments to your page layout
- Hit save in the floating panel to ensure you page layout changes are activated
You should now see a new section on your Company Page Layout to allow you to authorise your Making Tax Digital for VAT API. Follow the instructions on how to Authorise Zumzum Financials To Submit MTD Compliant VAT Returns to HMRC.
Add The Submit to HMRC Widget To Your VAT Return Page Layout
Once you have authorised Zumzum Financials to use your HMRC Making Tax Digital API, you will be able to submit VAT Returns directly from within Zumzum Financials. Please follow these steps to add the gadget to your VAT Return page layouts:
- Go to Setup in Salesforce Classic
- In the search box on the left hand side, type Objects
- Click on the link for Objects under Create>Objects
- Find and click on the VAT Return Object
- Scroll down to page layouts and click edit next to the VAT Return Layout
- Drag and drop the Section component to where you would like to add the widget
- Find the Visualforce pages link in the floating palette at the top of the page
- Drag and drop the SubmitMTDforVAT Classic page into the new section you have created
- Enter your new Section Name, e.g. Making Tax Digital
- Hover over the Visualforce page to the wrench on the right hand side and click it to reveal the settings
- Set the label visibility on the detail page and edit page as required and select the option to make it a single column
- Set the Width as 100%
- Set the Height as 200 pixels
- Click OK when done
- Find the Related Lists link the floating palette at the top of the page
- Add the related lists for VAT Submission Results to your page layout
- Hit save in the floating panel to ensure you page layout changes are activated
