The Salesforce Connect is a whole new way to integrate external data in salesforce with a simple point and click interface for admins, directly in the Salesforce interface. In the past, expensive and complicated systems integration packages and products were required to be able to see external data related to Salesforce records. Now, a user would be able to search inside salesforce and see external data in context of the Salesforce records, also visible on the Salesforce 1 mobile app. Examples of use cases are viewing SAP sales orders or sales invoices in Salesforce, related to accounts and opportunities visible as a related list, even from a mobile device.
