The 33 London Boroughs Revenues Departments Collaborate on Revenue Collection With New Internet Portal Powered by Google Sites
The London Revenues Group promotes and shares best practice to maximise revenue collections and customer service, with a new secure members portal, with an online document library, built and hosted on Google Sites.
London, April 1, 2010 — The London Revenues Group (LRG) has launched a new secure, private members only web site to easily and quickly share information with members located at all 33 London Boroughs Revenues Departments. The LRG promotes and shares best practices to maximise revenue collections and customer services so has launched a collaboration site that can be updated and maintained without the involvement of IT resources.
“Members meet on a regular basis and had quite often discussed the idea of a web site where we could post announcements, share documents and communicate with other members” commented Nick Rowe, Chairman of LRG. He continued to say “We were most concerned about security, confidentiality and ease of use, as we had no dedicated IT resources to build and maintain the site for us”. “we wanted a site that was quick and easy to deploy, we could update existing pages, add new pages and upload private documents without having to rely on IT or third parties to do it for us” commented Nick Rowe.
“When Zumzum approached us about Google Apps we were very impressed with Google Sites and the Executive Committee was unanimous in agreeing to proceed with developing a collaboration site, built using Google Sites” said Nick Rowe. “The site was designed and launched in a matter of weeks and the response we got from our members was incredibly positive, so we know we made the right decision to work with Google Apps. We are now looking at more ways to collaborate and communicate more efficiently by getting more use from Google Apps” enthused Nick.
“LRG wanted a site that only members could log in using a secure password, pages could be updated by end users and new content added any time, without relying on third parties or IT staff” said Bashrat Din, Managing Director of Zumzum Limited. “All of the functionality was built using the Google Apps Standard Editon, which is hosted on the Google Apps cloud computing platform, so that LRG could avoid having to buy expensive hardware, software and ongoing infrastructure” continued Bashrat.
This is a real world example of how Google Apps lets organisations collaborate in real-time by placing extremely powerful and easy to use tools in the hands of everyday end users. Members are based in offices all across London in the various London Borough Revenues Departments and can access the tools from any location with any web browser.
